One of the most common phrases said to me is: “I do not know how you do it all.”
And probably the most common question asked of me as a mom-preneur is, “How do you do it all?”
Here is my quick and easy answer. I don’t do it all.
I do the important things well. I write books. I edit books. I publish books. I work on websites and build platforms. I run my company Selah Press, help my husband occasionally with Red Cedar Bison (yes–we own a bison ranch too) and GreenWorks. I am a full time hands on mom. I educate my children through a combination of private school and homeschool. And I am 100% behind my girls serious commitment to dancing.
BUT. . .
I am not a good housewife. The dust bunnies in my house could organize and overthrow my home on occasion. I build large mounds of clean laundry I dub Mount Clean Laundry. In the kitchen the sink acts as a divider between Mount Dirty Dishes and Mount Clean Dishes. My cats are unruly, my dog is too lazy to go on walks, my car is a mess, my chickens sometimes have to wait for breakfast, and the weeds overtook my garden this year.
I don’t do it all. I do what is important to me.
Here is my photo essay of tips on how to build an empire, write a book or follow your dreams.
If you want to be a writer – write. If you want to build an empire – build. If you want to chase your dreams – tune out distractions.
Focus on the future and don’t let the small stuff trip you up along the way.
