My dad has been my role model, editor, hero, encourager, disciplinarian, cheerleader and inspiration. His persistent support made me feel like I could do anything—and even if I wasn’t good at something I could count on him being there to support me.
For many years I broke his heart, rebelled and was angry that his job made us move so much. It took me growing through the teen years to realize the blessing and opportunity he provided us. But even in those rebellious years I knew he loved me unconditionally. And when I was living through the consequences of my actions his love for me was a comforting constant.
I was blessed with an amazing dad and doubly by having two great parents. The experience of being supported and believed in has made me who I am today. I strive to support and encourage my children based on the example I was shown.
My dad gave me a lot of gifts—his time and attention, encouragement, and support—I think the greatest two gifts he gave me was his unconditional love and unwavering belief in me.
