However, Kayla takes her extensive knowledge of the science behind the process and weaves it with simple to understand, step by step instructions to take all the anxiety out of making amazing M&P soap bases! I enjoyed this book. I’ve been making soap for some years now, including transparent and syndet. The main recipe from your book was given to me almost a year ago (I had not the slightest idea it was yours, until I stumbled upon the book last week on Amazon).
So no surprises for me, since I’ve been experimenting with it for some time.
(b.t.w.my batches don’t fail when using soapcalc for the amount of lye.)
E.g. I subsituted the liquid C14/C16 OS for powdered surfactants; in another test I subbed part of the stearic acid with oil and butters etc.
Great fun and no epic failures so far. 🙂
One thing I don’t understand though. When you are a soaper and/or make lotions and creams, you always work with %, the total of the recipe being 100% (weight). It is more accurate and always reliable when you decide to make smaller or larger batches. So please, if there will be another edition of this book, or in the follow-up book you are planning, please give the recipes in %. Your public will be greatful!
Looking forward to your next book!
best regards and have a happy day.
